ALOHA AND WELCOME TO MY PERSONAL BLOG!!! I THOUGHT WHY NOT SHARE MY PERSONAL GAINS & STRUGGLES THAT LIFE PUTS OUT TO EACH AND ONE OF US. I FEEL THAT THROUGH THE GIFT OF "GIVING & SHARING", THERE IS NO WAY BETTER THAN START THIS BLOG WHICH IS ALL ABOUT ME, MY OHANA (FAMILY), HOALOHA (FRIENDS), AND EVEN ENEMIES WHICH ARE THE VERY ONES I NEED TO LOVE AND ACCEPT.


I'LL SAY THIS STRAIGHT UP, I DON'T HOLD BACK MY FEELINGS FOR ANYONE AND IT'LL COME OUT OF MY MOUTH ON HOW I FEEL ABOUT YOU AND OTHERS. I DON'T GO BEHIND ANYONE'S BACK AND START RUMOURS WITH HOPES THAT IT WILL CIRCLE AROUND AND FINALLY HIT ITS TARGET. WHY TAKE THE LONG ROUTE WHEN I CAN GO STRAIGHT TO THE POINT. PERSONALLY, I THINK THAT IS THE "REAL" WAY OF LIVING LIFE, "BE REAL" AT ALL TIMES EVEN WHEN THE WORLD IS WATCHING.


ON THE OTHER NOTE, "I AM" THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PERSON IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE FROM THE WAY "I SEE IT". I AM NOT SPEAKING FROM OTHER PEOPLE'S FEEDBACK OR "CONCEITEDNESS". "THIS IS" WHAT I CHOOSE TO SEE MYSELF EVERYDAY WHEN I WAKE UP FROM MY BED AND THANK "AKUA" (GOD) FOR GIVING ME ONE MORE DAY TO LIVE, REGARDLESS OF REGRETS FROM THE "YESTERDAYS" TO THE FEARS OF "TOMMOROWS".

NEW & EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

I'VE BEEN DWELLING ON THIS FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND AFTER CAREFUL CONSIDERATIONS WITH MY COACH AND MYSELF.

I'M IN...

I'M ENTERING THE "5TH ANNUAL TRY-GO-ATHON" WHICH WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, MARCH 30TH, 2013 IN HILO, HAWAI'I!!!



5th Annual Try-Go-Athon to be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013

This race is designed to challenge the serious athlete while also being available to those of us that just want to have some serious fun.   The entry fee of $35 per participant (HIPA member $25) will include an awesome, custom built,  race experience, a delicious lunch served at the Kamehameha Canoe Club, a participation award for the first 100 entries and a lucky number prize give away. 

Build your Race  from three available stages

Swim:   Rough water Swim 0.5 mile at Richardson’s Ocean Park (fins ok)
Run:     3.4 miles to Prince Kuhio Kalanianiole Park (tiny bit more than a 5K)
Paddle: Long Course 4.6 miles or Short Course 2.4

Choose  your Level of Competition

Solo: The same athlete performs all three stages of the race.
Relay Team: Two or three athletes perform the stages of the race. 
Run & Paddle Only: Wait until the 1st swimmer of your gender completes the swim and then you can start your race.

Swim & Run Only: No water craft?   No Problem!  Just swim, run and done!

Choose your Water Craft

OC1, OC2, Stand Up (SUP), Prone, Surf ski, Kayak: Any one or two person water craft propelled by paddle, with arm or leg power is acceptable.  No sails, No motors.

Choose your Course

Long Course : Reeds Bay, Checkerboard, Square, Outside Green, Bridge Lighthouse, Kamehameha Canoe Club Halau

Short Course: Reeds Bay, Checkerboard, Inside Green, Bathrooms, Kamehameha Canoe Club Halau

Setup your watercraft at Prince Kuhio Kalanianiole Park starting at 8:00 A.M.


Race Registration at Richardson’s from 8:00 to 9:30 A.M.
 
Mandatory Race Meeting at 10:00 A.M.                 Race starts with the Swim at 10:15 A.M.

"PROJECT SYNERGY" - PHASE 02 - DAY 19.

ALOHA "TEAM AWWWRITE!!!"

I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START...  ALL I KNOW IS THIS...

"I'M EXCITED!!!  I'M EXCITED!!!  I'M EXCITED!!!

TODAY WAS A SPECIAL DAY FOR ME...  AND WHY???

WELL LETS GET THE USUAL "BLAHHH"...  "BLAHHH"...  "BLAHHH"...  OUT OF THE WAY...  LOL!!!

I WAKE UP EARLY IN THE MORNING AND START HITTING MY BASIC "CARDIO" AND THEN I GO STRAIGHT INTO MY "WEIGHT TRAINING" WORKING ON MY "BACK & ARMS".  I DID VERY WELL AND BEFORE YOU KNOW IT...  I AM ON MY WAY TO MEET UP WITH MY COACH FOR ANOTHER "RUNNING" DRILLS!!!

I MET UP WITH HER AT THE COLLEGE GYM AND I'M SEEING ALL THIS OTHER STUFF ON THE FLOOR AND I'M SAYING TO MYSELF, "UH...  THIS DOESN'T LOOK LIKE RUNNING DRILLS TO ME"...  LOL!!!

AND OF COURSE MY COACH IS SMILING FROM ONE EAR TO THE OTHER AND SHE SAYS  THAT I'M GONNA DO AN "A.M.R.A.P." DRILL.

AND SHE GOES ON EXPLAINING THAT I'LL BE USING JUMP ROPES, THEN I'LL DO "20 FT INCH WORM" (WHATEVER THAT IS), SIT UPS (DID SHE SAY "SIT UPS???"...  GEEZ...  LOL!!!), "20 FT LUNGES" AND THAT COMPLETES "ONE REP!!!"

YEAH...  YOU READ CORRECTLY...  "ONE REP!!!"

AFTER SHE GRACIOUSLY EXPLAINS THIS LIKE IT'S NO BIG DEAL...  MY HEART RATE STARTS RACING SO FAST THAT I DON'T THINK I NEED TO WORKOUT ANYMORE...  UH...  WEREN'T WE SUPPOSE TO GO "RUN-NING!!!"

AND SHE AGAIN HAPPILY REPLIES, "WE'RE GONNA DO THAT AFTERWARDS"

SO THERE I GO...

NOW I HAVEN'T JUMP ROPES SINCE...  HMMM...  HIGH SCHOOL???  SO THERE  I GO... AND TO MY SURPRISE, I WAS DOING PRETTY GOOD!!!  

AND THEN ON TO THE "INCH WORM"...  START ON YOUR ALL FOURS AND WALK YOUR HANDS WITHOUT MOVING YOUR FEET UNTIL YOU ARE IN A"PLANK" AND THEN WALK YOUR FEET WITHOUT MOVING YOUR HANDS UNTIL YOU ARE ON ALL FOURS AGAIN WITH YOUR BUTT STICKING OUT...  AND REPEAT UNTIL YOU TRAVELED 20 FEET!!!

THEN I HAVE TO DO 10 "SIT UPS", AND LET ME TELL YOU, THE LAST TIME I DID "SIT UPS" WAS BACK IN HIGH SCHOOL!!!

RIGHT AFTER THAT I DO "DEEP LUNGES" FOR 20 FEET!!!

AND REPEAT...  YUP...  THAT WAS "ONE REP!!!"

COACH HAD ME DOING THIS FOR 12 MINUTES STRAIGHT AND THEN SHE'LL DETERMINE HOW MANY REPS I DID PLUS ALL THE OTHER DATA.

AS I KEPT PUSHING MYSELF TO THE LIMIT...  I KEEP SEEING A CLEAR PICTURE OF MYSELF WITH KAHEALANI BEING VERY HAPPY TOGETHER!!!  AND THIS WAS THE MOST "BEAUTIFUL" FEELING EVER...  DESPITE THE "PAINS & GRUNTS"...  I CONTINUED TO PUSH ON UNTIL COACH SAID "TIME!!!"

BY THEN I WAS SO EXHAUSTED...  BUT IT FELT GOOD...  I MEAN REALLY GOOD!!!  I WAS VERY SHOCKED THAT I COULD DO THIS AND THEN COACH GAVE ME THE RESULTS:

IN 12 MINUTES, I DID:

175 JUMP ROPES
85 FEET OF "INCH WORM"
40 SIT UPS
80 FEET OF DEEP LUNGES

SO ROUGHLY 4 REPS!!!

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH MYSELF...  I KNOW FOR A FACT A YEAR AGO...  I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS!!!

AND THEN SHE SAID,  "CONGRATS!!!  YOU DID YOUR FIRST CROSS FIT DRILL!!!"
IN MY HEAD...  I WAS JUMPING LIKE CRAZY!!!  I ACTUALLY DID MY VERY FIRST "CROSS FIT!!!"

NOW I KNOW I AM "AWWWESOME!!!"

AND RIGHT AFTER THAT...  I DID MY "RUNNING DRILLS" AND WITH "CROSS FIT" BEING DONE FIRST...  MY RUNNING BECAME ALOT EASIER!!!

AND NOW I KNOW WHAT "A.M.R.A.P." STANDS FOR...

"AS MANY REPS AS POSSIBLE!!!"

"PROJECT SYNERGY" - PHASE 02 - DAY 18.

ALOHA "TEAM AWWWRITE!!!"

TODAY WAS "CARDIO ONLY" AND I COULD USE THE REST AS TOMORROW I'LL BE WORKING ON MY 'BACK & ARMS" AND THEN "RUNNING", HOPEFULLY THE WEATHER WILL BE FRIENDLIER THAN YESTERDAY AND I CAN GO RUNNING OUTSIDE INSTEAD OF INSIDE OF A GYM.

AFTER THAT I WAS JOINED BY MY GOOD FRIENDS STEVE AND JERRY FOR LUNCH.  I MADE A QUICK CONCOCTION HALIBUT RECIPE.

I MARINATED THE HALIBUT WITH PEANUT OIL, DILL, GREEN ONIONS, SALT, PEPPER, AND FRESH SLICED LEMONS & LIMES, AND PONZU SAUCE.  I THEN WRAPPED THE ENTIRE FISH IN FOIL AND STEAMED IT AND ATE WITH GARLIC & CURRY COUSCOUS!!!

IT CAME OUT PRETTY GOOD...  NOT BAD FOR A 1ST TIMER.  WE ALL ENJOYED IT AND THERE WAS ENOUGH LEFT OVERS FOR ME TO TAKE FOR DINNER TONIGHT AT WORK!!!

"PROJECT SYNERGY" - PHASE 02 - DAY 17.

ALOHA "TEAM AWWWRITE!!!"

I'M NOW ON WEEK 4!!!  THIS WILL BE MY LAST WEEK OF FULL TRAINING AND FOR THE WEEK AFTER THIS I'LL BE DOING CIRCUIT STRENGTH TRAINING FOR ONLY 3 DAYS AND THEN I AM HOME BOUND!!!

YES...  KEAUKAHA...  I AM RETURNING AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...  ME AND KAHEALANI WILL BE TOGETHER AGAIN!!!

I'M SO EXCITED AND I CANNOT WAIT ANY LONGER!!!

ANYWAYS BACK TO TODAY'S REPORT, I WOKE UP VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING (5:00AM)  TO KNOCKOUT MY WORKOUTS ON MY "CHEST & SHOULDERS" AND THEN I WAS SCHEDULE TO GO RUNNING RIGHT AFTERWARDS AT 9:00AM.

HOWEVER...  BETHEL, ALASKA GOT COLD AGAIN TO -1 WITH -11 WIND CHILLS!!!  I WAS LIKE HMMM...  DO I EVEN HAVE PROPER WINTER RUNNING GEARS???  BUT I WAS STILL DETERMINED TO GO EVEN IF I HAD TO THROW ON MY HEAVY DUTY BIB AND AND HEAVY DUTY DOWN COAT...  LOL!!!  BUT I CALLED COACH CHRISTI AND ASKED ABOUT IF IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO BE RUNNING IN SUCH COLD WEATHER AND SHE SAID THAT WE SHOULD CANCEL FOR ANOTHER DAY.  I DID SAY THAT I COULD GO RUNNING AT MY WORKPLACE LATER ON IN THE EVENING SO THAT I AM STILL ON SCHEDULE AND NOT MISS ANY DAYS OF TRAINING.  AND SHE SAID THAT IT WAS OKAY.

SO FAST FORWARD 12 HOURS LATER.  I'M ALREADY RUNNING IN THE GYM AT WORK AND I REALIZED HOW VERY BORING IT IS AS I MISS SEEING THE BEAUTIFUL OUTDOOR SCENERY AS I DID LAST SATURDAY.  BUT I DID MY RUNNING AND I WAS GLAD THAT I DID AND IT WAS VERY GOOD AS MY BODY WAS REALLY FEELING IT.

AND THAT WAS PRETTY MUCH MY DAY...  SIMPLE AND YET SWEATY...  LOL!!!

"PROJECT SYNERGY" - PHASE 02 - WEEK 03 RECAP.

ALOHA "TEAM AWWWRITE!!!"

WOW!!!  I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW FAST TIME FLIES!!!

IT'S BEEN 3 WEEKS INTO MY "PHASE 02" AND I'VE NEVER IMAGINED MYSELF BEING WHERE I AM AT IN LIFE.  AT THIS VERY MOMENT I AM LOOKING BACK AT WHERE I WAS SEVERAL YEARS AGO WITH MY HEALTH.


ME & KAHEALANI - AUGUST 2010.

365LBS!!!



AUGUST 2010, I WAS WEIGHING AT 365LBS, DEPRESSED, CLOSE TO BEING LABELED AS "TYPE 2 DIABETES", SUFFERING "SLEEP APNEA", BADLY OUT OF SHAPE, AND LIST GOES ON AND ON!!!

MY DOCTORS SAYS I NEEDED TO MAKE SOME SERIOUS CHANGES IN MY LIFESTYLE IF I WANTED TO LIVE LONGER AND HAPPIER.  I WAS PUT ON A VERY STRICT DIET WITH VIRTUALLY "NO SUGAR" AS POSSIBLE!!!  I THEN WAS REFERRED TO DO A "SLEEP STUDY" FOR TESTINGS ON MY "SLEEP APNEA".  I ALSO STARTED TO EXERCISE AT A  SLOW PACE TRYING TO WORK MY WAY UP.  AND THEN I GOT A "HEARING TEST" AS I'VE BEEN IN DENIAL THAT I CAN HEAR JUST PERFECTLY FINE...  LOL!!!

AFTER ACCEPTING EVERYTHING "AS IS" WITH MY LIFE, I "TOOK ACTION!!!"  LIKE I SAID BEFORE THIS YEAR'S MOTTO IS:

"TAKING ACTION!!!"

AND I AM VERY GLAD THAT I DID AND I TRUSTED THE PROCESS.

FAST FORWARD TO THE PRESENT DAY...  TODAY!!!

TYPE 2 DIABETES...  WHAT'S THAT???  NEVER EVEN CAME CLOSE TO MESSING WITH ME BECAUSE I SAID TO MY BODY THAT "I AM IN CONTROL!!!"

"SUGAR"...  BLAHHH!!!  I READ EVERYTHING ON THE LABELS BEFORE I BUY IT, AND YES  I AM VERY AWARE OF "SUGAR'S" NICKNAMES:




I THEN WENT AND DID A "SLEEP TEST" AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH "SLEEP APNEA" AS MY DOCTOR PREDICTED.  SO I GOT MYSELF A "C-PAP MACHINE" - FOR MORE INFO, CLICK ON THE LINK:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positive_airway_pressure

I AM STILL USING MY "C-PAP MACHINE" AND WON'T LEAVE WITHOUT IT.


FOR MY WORKOUTS...  I STARTED AT A VERY SLOW PACE AND I WAS SLOWLY SHOWING SOME RESULTS AND MY WEIGHT WAS GRADUALLY GOING DOWN TO 313LBS, BUT AFTER 2 YEARS OF ROLLERCOASTING...  I THEN SAID TO MYSELF, "WAIPA...  WAKE UP AND GET WITH IT!!!  QUIT TRYING TO TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT!!!"



AND ON AUGUST 2012 THE UNKNOWN FORCES KICKED IN, I CALL IT THE "SUBCONSCIOUS" AND "SUPER CONSCIOUS" OF MY MIND.  THEY BOTH GOT INTO MY FACE AND I SURRENDERED TO THEM AND WENT FORWARD AT FULL FORCE!!!



I WAS REFERRED TO AN ONLINE COACH, "TOM VENUTO" WHO IS A VERY WELL KNOWN  COMPETITIVE BODY BUILDER, A BODY TRANSFORMATION COACH, A NUTRITION RESEARCHER, AND A MOTIVATIONAL COACH!!!



HE BECAME MY NEW BEST FRIEND!!!  HE SET ME UP WITH A PLAN THAT WAS MADE JUST FOR ME AND I FOLLOWED EVERY SINGLE WORD AND HAVEN'T STOPPED AND I DON'T INTEND TO!!!

WITH ALL THIS COMBINED I AM ON MY WAY TO A BETTER AND HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE!!!

AND I'M NOT STOPPING THERE.  I'M GOING FOR THE "150 POUND CLUB" BECAUSE I HEARD A RUMOR THAT THE PEOPLE IN THAT CLUB HAVE "SINGLE DIGIT BODY FAT PERCENTAGE!!!"...  SO I'VE HEARD... AND THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT...  LOL!!!
