ALOHA AND WELCOME TO MY PERSONAL BLOG!!! I THOUGHT WHY NOT SHARE MY PERSONAL GAINS & STRUGGLES THAT LIFE PUTS OUT TO EACH AND ONE OF US. I FEEL THAT THROUGH THE GIFT OF "GIVING & SHARING", THERE IS NO WAY BETTER THAN START THIS BLOG WHICH IS ALL ABOUT ME, MY OHANA (FAMILY), HOALOHA (FRIENDS), AND EVEN ENEMIES WHICH ARE THE VERY ONES I NEED TO LOVE AND ACCEPT.


I'LL SAY THIS STRAIGHT UP, I DON'T HOLD BACK MY FEELINGS FOR ANYONE AND IT'LL COME OUT OF MY MOUTH ON HOW I FEEL ABOUT YOU AND OTHERS. I DON'T GO BEHIND ANYONE'S BACK AND START RUMOURS WITH HOPES THAT IT WILL CIRCLE AROUND AND FINALLY HIT ITS TARGET. WHY TAKE THE LONG ROUTE WHEN I CAN GO STRAIGHT TO THE POINT. PERSONALLY, I THINK THAT IS THE "REAL" WAY OF LIVING LIFE, "BE REAL" AT ALL TIMES EVEN WHEN THE WORLD IS WATCHING.


ON THE OTHER NOTE, "I AM" THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PERSON IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE FROM THE WAY "I SEE IT". I AM NOT SPEAKING FROM OTHER PEOPLE'S FEEDBACK OR "CONCEITEDNESS". "THIS IS" WHAT I CHOOSE TO SEE MYSELF EVERYDAY WHEN I WAKE UP FROM MY BED AND THANK "AKUA" (GOD) FOR GIVING ME ONE MORE DAY TO LIVE, REGARDLESS OF REGRETS FROM THE "YESTERDAYS" TO THE FEARS OF "TOMMOROWS".


IN MY EYES, LIVING A "BEAUTIFUL LIFE" CAN ONLY BE ATTAINED BY "CHOICE" AND IT REQUIRES "INTEGRITY", "HONESTY", "UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE", "FORGIVENESS" AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, "LOVE".

WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST 6 WEEKS...

ALOHA EVERYONE!!!


SO LETS BACK TRACK A LITTLE BIT JUST SO I CAN GET ALL OF YOU UPDATED TO MY PRESENT DAY.


SO ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO, I DECIDED TO GO FORWARD WITH MY PLAN AS SAID IN MY LOST BLOG.  I WENT AND DELETED MY FACEBOOK ACCOUNT AND CREATED A NEW ONE AND THIS TIME I ONLY ADDED PEOPLE WHO I KNOW WILL INSPIRE, MOTIVATE, HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE TO MY GOALS, AND SUPPORTIVE.

I JOINED A JUMP ROPE COMMUNITY GROUP WHICH I CANNOT WAIT TO START, AS SOON AS MY ANKLE AND KNEE HEALS...  YEAH WE'LL GET TO THAT LATER ON...  I'LL EXPLAIN.


AND I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST...  I AM REDEDICATING MYSELF TO GET BACK INTO SPARTAN TRAINING AND SPARTAN RACES.  I AM MAKING A STRONG COMEBACK AND I'M HEADING UPWARDS IN LIFE.

SO BACK TO MY REALITY, FIRST THING I DID WAS RESET MY TRAINING ROOM, I CALL IT "ARENA ONE", I JUST LIKE THE NAME AND EVERY TIME I SAY IT, IT GIVES ME THE CONFIDENCE AND DRIVE AS IF I'M IN A REAL ARENA WAITING TO FIGHT WHOMEVER SHOWS UP IN FRONT OF ME. 


OH I DON'T MEAN LIKE ACTUALLY FIGHTING REAL PEOPLE, LETS HOPE THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.  BUT WHAT I MEANT IS FIGHTING THE LAZINESS, THE FEAR, THE PAIN OF HARD WORK, THE BLOOD, SWEAT, & TEARS, THE EXCUSES, THE TOO TIRED ATTITUDE, THE SELF-DOUBTS, THE REGRETS FROM THE PAST, ETC.


SO IN MY "ARENA ONE" I HAVE THE FOLLOWING...

A PULL-UP BAR, A TRX SYSTEM, 30LBS HEAVY ROPES, EXERCISE BALL, VARIOUS HEAVY METAL PLATES AND BARS, A SQUAT RACK, A DUMBBELL RACK RANGING FROM 10LBS TO 65LBS, AN ADJUSTABLE BENCH, AND MY MEDALS TO REMIND ME OF WHAT "I AM" AND WHAT I'VE ALWAYS BEEN...  A WARRIOR!!!













AFTER SETTING UP MY "ARENA ONE" I HAD ONE OBSTACLE THAT I CHOSE TO FACE BEFORE I START MY WEIGHT TRAINING...  CARDIO...  GRRR!!!


YUP, CARDIO HAS BEEN MY DOWNFALL AND I WAS NEVER A BIG FAN OF IT.  BUT IT IS THE MOST CRUCIAL PART OF LIVING HEALTHY.  I KNEW I NEEDED TO HAVE A HEALTHY HEART TO BEGIN WITH AND ONCE I START DOING IT, EVERYTHING ELSE WILL COME INTO PLACE.


SO I DECIDED TO START JOGGING.  I AM USING AN APP ON IPHONE CALLED "C25K", IT MEANS "COUCH TO 5K", IT HELPS PREPARE YOU FOR AN UPCOMING 5K RUN.  IT SETS YOU UP ON A WALK AND RUN INTERVALS WITH A TIMER AND A COACH THAT TELLS YOU WHEN TO RUN AND WHEN TO WALK, PLUS YOU CAN LISTEN TO YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC TO GO ALONG WITH.


SO HERE I AM SLOWLY BUILDING UP MY CARDIO, CONDITIONING, AND ENDURANCE.




I'VE BEEN A FAITHFUL BELIEVER OF "ASICS" SHOES FOR PURPOSE OF RUNNING.  I'VE USE THEM SEVERAL YEARS AGO WHEN I RAN SEVERAL 5K RACES AND RECREATIONAL JOGGING.  AND FOR MY HEADPHONES, I USE "AFTERSHOKS" WIRELESS HEADPHONES.  THEY SEND SOUNDS THROUGH THE SIDE OF YOUR JAWBONE JUST BELOW THE EARS, THEY CALL IT, "BONE CONDUCTION".





I LOVE THESE HEADPHONES, THEY ARE SUPER LIGHT, MADE OUT OF TITANIUM, LOUD ENOUGH FOR ME, AND THEY LAST FOR ABOUT 8 HOURS AT FULL BLAST.  PLUS YOU CAN ALSO HEAR OUTSIDE NOISES SUCH AS WARNING SOUNDS IF YOU EVER RUN OUTDOORS AND NOT BE AWARE OF UNEXPECTED DANGERS AND ACCIDENTS.


FOR EXAMPLE, I LIVE IN RURAL ALASKA AND MOST PEOPLE TRAVEL BY ATV IN THE SUMMERS AND SNOW MACHINES IN THE WINTERS.  THEY TRAVEL ON TRAILS AND ALONG THE STREETS AND HIGHWAY IF NECESSARY.  AND OF COURSE WE DO HAVE OCCASIONAL DRUNK DRIVING ON THESE ATVS AND SNOW MACHINES AND I HAVE SEEN ACCIDENTS HAPPEN IN MY AREA.  SO WHEN I USE TO RUN OUTDOORS SEVERAL YEARS AGO, I USE MY TRADITIONAL HEADPHONES/EARPHONES AND IF YOU ARE HEARING IMPAIRED LIKE ME, YOU WILL MORE THANK LIKELY PLAY YOUR MUSIC AT FULL BLAST AND THAT MEANS I AM DEAF TO THE OUTSIDE SOUNDS.  I WOULD ALWAYS FREQUENTLY LOOK BEHIND ME AND SEE IF THEY ARE ANY VEHICLES APPROACHING ME AND MORE OFTEN THAN ONCE I WOULD ENCOUNTER SOME.  BUT I DEFINITELY DO NOT WANT TO BE A VICTIM AND GET RUNNED OVER FROM BEHIND, THAT WOULD NOT BE A PRETTY SITE.


SO HENCE TO WHY I LOVE THESE COOL HEADPHONES THAT I'LL USE WHEN I GO RUNNING OUTDOORS.

SO BELOW HERE IS ONE OF MY RUNNING STATS: 




I BELIEVE THIS IS WEEK 3 INTO THE "C25K" APP PROGRAM AND SO FAR I'VE BEEN REALLY LOVING MY PROGRESS AND I USE A "GARMIN VIVOACTIVE 3 WATCH", ITS PRETTY AWESOME AND I LOVE THE WRIST-BASED HEART MONITOR, NO MORE CHEST-STRAPPED HEART MONITOR LIKE THE OLD DAYS.  AND I'VE BEEN RUNNING INDOORS RUNNING LAPS AROUND THE GYM AT MY WORKPLACE UNTIL THE WEATHER GETS BETTER AND WARMER.


MY RUNNING SCHEDULE IS "TUESDAYS/THURSDAYS/SATURDAYS" EVERY WEEK.  I SET IT UP THIS WAY BECAUSE ON WEEK 5, I ADDED MY WEIGHT TRAINING TO MY SCHEDULE.



SO FOR MY WEIGHT TRAINING PROGRAM I AM USING A "HYPERTROPHY SUPERSETS" SYSTEM,  BASICALLY IT WAS DESIGNED FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE SHORT ON TIME WITH THEIR BUSY LIVES LIKE MYSELF BECAUSE I WORK 2 JOBS ALMOST BACK TO BACK.  THIS PROGRAM IS A STARTING POINT TO GET ME BACK SLOWLY INTO MY NORMAL RHYTHM SINCE I HAVEN'T LIFTED WEIGHTS FOR ALMOST 3 YEARS.

A "SUPERSET" COMBINES 2 DIFFERENT EXERCISES THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE IMMEDIATELY RIGHT AFTER EACH OTHER WITH NO REST IN BETWEEN.  AND AFTER A SUPERSET IS DONE YOU GET A MINUTE TO REST AND REPEAT 3-4 MORE TIMES.  EACH SESSION HAS ME PERFORM 4 DIFFERENT SUPERSETS.  AND BELIEVE ME, YOU WILL FEEL IT!!!  I WAS SORE AS FUCK AFTER THE FIRST DAY!!! 


THE PROGRAM BREAKS IT DOWN TO UPPER-BODY & LOWER-BODY THROUGHOUT THE WEEK.  THE SCHEDULE IS "MONDAYS/TUESDAYS/THURSDAYS/FRIDAYS" EVERY WEEK FOR 12 WEEKS.  I AM CURRENTLY ON WEEK 3.

I GET A GOOD 30 MINUTES OF INTENSE TRAINING.  AND IT COVERS PRETTY EVERY MUSCLE GROUP IN THE BODY.






SO THE NEXT THING IS...  WHAT AM I EATING & DRINKING???


THIS IS THE BY FAR THE MOST DIFFICULT TASK AT HAND WHEN IT COMES LIVING, EATING, AND STAYING HEALTHY.  I AM JUST A BEGINNER EVEN WHEN I DID THIS 5-6 YEARS AGO AND ITS ALWAYS BEEN THE TOUGHEST TASK BECAUSE ITS A DAILY THING FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.


CUTTING OUT THE SUGARS, PROCESSED CRAP, SALT, ALCOHOL, ETC.


SO HERE IS WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING:

 CHICKEN SALADS.





 CHICKEN & QUINOA.





 CHICKEN & BROWN RICE NOODLES.





CHICKEN & BROCCOLI WITH TOFU & BROWN RICE.



NOW I'M GOING TO TELL YOU RIGHT NOW THAT THIS WAS NOT EASY TO DO, MEAL PREPPING FOR A WEEK IS NO WALK IN THE PARK.  IT TAKES TIME AND PATIENCE, BUT IT IS POSSIBLE IF YOU WANT IT TO WORK.


GET A FOOD SCALE, DOWNLOAD THE "MYFITNESSPAL" APP AND LEARN ABOUT THE "MACROS" SYSTEM BECAUSE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU WANT YOUR FOOD TO WORK FOR YOU AND PROVIDE THE ENERGY TO PERFORM YOUR WORKOUTS AND RECOVERY.


BUT THERE ARE "CHEAT MEALS" IN BETWEEN TO HELP WITH THE DISCOURAGEMENT, AND IS BENEFICIAL TO OFFSET YOUR BODY WHEN YOU HIT A PLATEAU.  MORE ON THAT LATER ON AS I'M STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS.


SO WHAT ABOUT UNEXPECTED INJURIES??? 





WHAT DO YOU DO???  WELL FOR ME THAT JUST LITERALLY HAPPENED LAST WEEK!!!  I WISH I KIDDING BUT I'M NOT.




I SPRAINED MY ANKLE ON ONE OCCASION AND HURT MY RIGHT KNEE ON ANOTHER OCCASION... AND YOU GOING TO LOVE HEARING THIS...  THESE INCIDENTS WERE NON-WORKOUT/TRAINING RELATED!!!


THIS IS THE UNIVERSE TESTING ME ON HOW BAD I REALLY WANT AND MEAN IT WHEN I MADE THE DECISION TO CHANGE MY LIFE FOR THE BETTER.  BECAUSE THERE IS NO EASY PATH TO SUCCESS, BECAUSE IF THERE WAS SUCH AN EASY PATH , THEN WE ALL WOULD BE SUCCESSFUL RIGHT NOW.

SO I MADE MODIFICATIONS TO ALL MY LEGS WORKOUTS AND I REPLACED MY RUNNING WITH STATIONARY BIKING UNTIL I HEAL UP.


YUP, ITS REAL AND I'M FIGHTING EVERY FRUSTRATION THAT COMES ALONG WITH IT.  I'M NOT A BIG FAN OF RUNNING AND BIKING IN PLACE.  FOR SOME REASON IT DOES NOT CLICK WITH ME.  HOWEVER THIS IS AN ALTERNATIVE TO HELP ME CONTINUE ONWARD TOWARDS MY GOALS.

WHATEVER IT TAKES!!!

SO HERE'S MY JOURNEY TOWARDS HEALING MY ANKLE AND KNEE.  I'M STILL TRAINING WITH MODIFICATIONS, I'M STILL MEETING MY DAILY WATER HYDRATION, STILL EATING CLEAN WITH AN OCCASIONAL CHEAT MEAL ONCE A WEEK, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...  I'M TRUSTING THE PROCESS AND LET GOD BE MY GUIDANCE THROUGH ALL OF THIS.
